We know getting old comes with a few ups and downs and sometimes it may take a person a little bit of time to come to terms with the fact that they are losing out on a lot of conversations and other sounds around them. We often get very happy reports back, after clients make the switch to a new hearing aid, about how much life they were missing out on!

Things like the laughter of a small baby from across the room, or just even the sound your change makes when it jingles as you walk. Isn;t it time you thought about joining in on family conversations again? We want you to have your most cherished memories again … and that means not missing out on a single word of a loved one.

So let’s walk you through our Process, of a Free Hearing Test:

1. Opening Questions & Lifestyle Assesment

This helps us to understand more about your lifestyle and hearing priorities, most importantly, it provides you with individualized care. Melissa will have some other questions before your hеаring test, about when you first started to notice any loss of hearing. You mау bе аѕkеd fоr рrоblеmѕ аbоut nоiѕе еxроѕurе or loud factory work to better understand your specific situation and what can be done about it. This leads us into the next part of your visit…

2. Your Health and Hearing History

Many people are surprised by how much our overall health—and the medications we take—can impact our hearing. Several common conditions can adversely affect our ability to hear. For example, high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease are all linked to hearing loss.

Similarly, understanding your hearing history gives us a window into your ability to hear today.

Some typical questions about your hearing may include:

  • Is there hearing loss in your family?
  • Are one or two ears affected?
  • Were you subjected to chronic loud noise during your life?
  • Do your ears ring?
  • Do you have dizziness or vertigo?
  • Did you have ear infections as a child?
  • Do you have ear pain?
  • Is it harder to hear the voices of men, women, or children?
  • Do you notice environments where it’s challenging to follow the conversation?

At this time, you will also be asked about any medications you take. This is important because many prescription and over-the-counter drugs are ototoxic, or harmful to your hearing. This is also the stage to mention anything else that relates to your hearing.

3. Professional Hearing Test

Aftеr these short diѕсuѕѕiоns, уоu will bе escorted into a sound both for a painless series оf hеаring tеѕtѕ to get a clear understanding оf the degree of hеаring lоѕѕ. 4. Hearing Test Results & Recommendations

After your hearing evaluation, Melissa your professional hearing aid specialist will review your results with you and give you s a visual representation of how well you are hearing back from the tests.

Hearing loss may take many different forms. Some of us start missing sounds in the higher ranges, such as the voices of women and children. Others hear quite well in quiet surroundings, but struggle in noisy environments, such as crowded rooms or shopping mall type environments.

Your Free Hearing Test shows you where you’re hearing normally, and where you’re missing sounds. Once you and your hearing care professional discuss your overall results and review your lifestyle and hearing goals, Melissa can provide you with an in-office hearing aid demonstration and even offer you a trial of the best hearing aids that are right for you.

After you are 110% sure on your decision with going ahead the hearing aids, and even discussing some hearing aid prices, then we can help with the process of both purchasing and reimbursement of hearing aid products through the ADP (Assistive Devices Program) where the Government of Canada helps with any costs associated with the purchasing of new hearing aids.

5. Follow Up & Care

Once you are fitted with a hearing aid trial we will call you when it comes time to make a decision on purchase, but the relationship doesn’t end there! We will always stay in touch to see how you are doing and give you reminder calls for things like Hearing Aid Cleanings and scheduled Battery Replacements. We want you to know that we care about your standards of living and if we can do anything to elevate you and your hearing, we will be in touch!
